Made Possible by a State Grant
The bike-parking project is a collaborative effort between Town departments. Specifically, the Planning, Facilities, Public Works, and Sustainability departments. And an $8,000 state grant from the Department of Transportation made it possible.
Bike Parking Improvements Part of Bigger Initiative
The bike-parking improvements are also part of a larger Town initiative. The Town wants the downtown area more accessible and inviting to the general public. And to achieve that goal, the Town is working on bringing Shared Streets to Andover. This effort will make downtown more pedestrian and bike-friendly.
And the Town is trying to bring more public art to downtown. For example, the goal of the Main Street ARTlet is to make the area more inviting and pleasant. Finally, the Town is working on Wayfinding to help people find municipal landmarks and to encourage walking.
